10 Things You Need To Know About Prayer

1. There’s No On-Demand Service

Although Jesus himself stated our prayers could move mountains figuratively and literally, that doesn’t mean we have God on speed dial doing things out our every whim. He loves us and cares for us but He is not under our control. We can’t give God orders and be upset when He doesn’t cater to us.

2. You’ll Still Face Trouble

Though God is loving, He forewarned us of many trials and troubles should we decide to follow Him in faith. In Jesus’ own words found in John 16:33:

“I have told you these things, so that you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take Heart! I have overcome the world.”

3. Nobody Likes a Show Off

The meaning of your prayers is destroyed when you only pray in front of others for the recognition. Has someone ever talked with you only when you were alone but quickly disregarded you as a friend in front of others? God feels a similar pain when we only speak communicate with Him solely because we want others to see rather than genuinely seeking Him on our own time.

4. You Can and Will Want to Do It All the Time

Contrary to what you may think, largely propagated through the Catholic Church in regard to traditional practices, prayer doesn’t have to be solely formal. You can and will want to pray all throughout your day. Don’t get me wrong though. It is better for you to pray for good durations alone as it is spiritually beneficial, but we are not limited in our access to God.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

5. Your Prayers are Strong

Jesus himself spoke to the importance of our prayers in that, whenever you pray, if you actually believe it, you will receive it. No gimmicks, no magic potions, just pray and believe.

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22

6. Your Prayers are Heard

Sometimes praying is difficult because we don’t actually feel the presence of God working in our lives. Believe me, every believer goes through this. You must hold on to the fact that time for God is infinite and the path you’re taking has a gatekeeper waiting patiently for you to arrive.

7. The More You Pray the Stronger You Become

This one’s easy. The more you associate with Godly people, attend church, and pray, the stronger you will become in your faith.

8. 5 Minutes Can Change Everything

If you’re having a bad day, stop and pray for a moment. If you’re at work, go to the bathroom and pray it out, tell God how you feel.

9. It’s Real Communication

Its essential that you know you’re actually communicating with somebody. Don’t just say words because you’ve grown up praying a certain way. It would be weird if someone always spoke to you with a script so why would you speak to God in that way?

10. Consider What You’ve Got

Think about how far you have come in your life with God, all of the prayers He’s answered for you so far and the things He’s helped you with. Never be afraid to share that with others as they may want or need the same kind of help.

God bless.
